Can anything Toutch them??? I have not heard any speakers that can produce the crisp clear high end that bose can produce,
I am not a huge fan of the subs, but really are they too proud of the speakers? can you get better speakers for the money???
Is this a joke?
Many speakers that cost the same or less can outperform Bose for accuracy, but if you like the Bose sound, go for it. No one can tell another what they like to hear.
Bose leave large gaps in the sound reproduction. Check out this link on the AM series.

It is possible to get much better sound for less.

damn looks like I touched a nerve there 57,
didn't mean to offend you...
I am glad you feel so strongly about it, it tells me that I should look alot further before I spend my money.
A while ago, someone started a similar Bose thread and it was a joke. I should not have put in that "joke" remark and only stated the second part of the post. Please, everyone, accept my apologies.
Here's the "old" thread.

Go to this website www.audioasylum.com and ask a few of them what they think of Bose if you think 57U had a strong opinion ;)

I have some Bose speakers, though not the cubes, and they seem to work just fine. I don't have anything to compare them too, but I seem to remember reading a good amount of info a while back putting down cube-type speaker systems in general. Are you folks saying just the Bose, for the most part, are bad and there are some good cube-type systems?
The reason I ask is because the last time I was looking at speakers at Ultimate Electronics, I was able to compare Bose systems to others in the room and there is a noticeable difference in sound reproduction. That experience turned me off even looking at cube-type systems. Am I being short-sighted?

I found one more interesting link comparing all kinds of speakers including Bose.

Here is one more Bose link.

You need to take the information in these links with a grain of salt.

heh heh. I don't even own the Acoustimass system, you're right 57U, it was a joke. I was just being a friggin' bastard, because it amuses me so.

I have a Energy Take 5 System which could be had for $600 from a local dealer here. It sounds very good for my home theater needs for now. Its supposed to be much better than bose.
Also Energy has new Take 5.2 which is available for $700 here locally. Has good reviews. Good Luck. :)

I needed small discreet speakers, I have the big system for the TV room and I got the BOSE for the bedroom to go with my 27 Samsung HI-DEF. They are small and expensive but I think they sound pretty darned good. My wife would freak if I had huge speakers in the room but know I can have Dolby 5.1 in the bedroom too without getting kicked out of the house. Another reason not to leave the house, bedroom in this case.

My Bose theory is this:
Some of Bose's original offerings (ie:901's) were genuine attempts at decent audio. And perhaps they were on to something with that highly dispersed "reflective technology". But, then somewhere along the line, Dr B got dollar signs in his eyes and saw the value of marketing.
My brother has a set of 901's and I don't think they sound "terrible". They do put out a more "ambient" sound that's probably more suited for parties than critical listening. It really depends on what school you come from, whether you're a hardcore purist who believes in a pin point audio source or if you prefer a more "all over" soundstage and you don't put a high price on reflective distortion or time alignment.
But, the acoustima$$ just sucks hands down.

I have bose acoustimass surround speakers and I like them for the most part. One thing I noticed is that I never got good bass out of the sub. I corrected that with a $75 powered sub I got off ebay. Now the whole set up totally rocks. Movies are fantastic now.

I have the Acoustimass 10 Series III, it's not bad at all for the small size bedroom setup, I mean, it's a bedroom, I don't have much room for big speakers... So...
