Hi all - I have a Mits WD-62525 and all of a sudeen last week the screen started to flicker when I first turn it on. Just in a week it looks like it's getting worse, I thought that it was mainly flickering on lower 1/3 of the screen at first but now it seems like the entire screen flickers but still, the lower 1/3 is worse.

Let me describe the flicker...the screen jumps, or scrambles, for an instant and is at its worst when it first turns on. It doesn't appear to be periodic in any way - entirely random in time. It goes away entirely after about 10-20 minutes, as if an IC or component begins to work properly as it heats up.

I don't know what the tempco of an electrolytic cap is so I couldn't say if it's a cap problem. But I do know that some IC's, as they begin to fail, sometimes work better as they heat up because the Vt of the transistors is lower at high temps.

I don't have a problem replacing components but I could certainly use your help in figuring out which board to start on and if you think it's a cap problem or IC problem.

Thanks for your help in advance!

An update on the flickering. It is getting much worse. It pretty much flickers all of the time now. It also seems to be data dependent. In other words, it depends on what is being shown on the screen. For instance, if I hit the guide on my dvr it jumps (flickers) constantly. There are also these white, snowy, looking horizontal lines on the screen as well.

Please post your thoughts...anything could help at this point.

Did a Google search on "WD-62525 flicker" and came up with Troubleshooting-picture flickers on my MITSUBISHI WD-62525 (http://en.allexperts.com/q/TV-VCR-Stereo-1749/picture-flickers-MITSUBISHI-WD.htm) from another Forum that might be helpful and points to two possibilities:

POSSIBILITY #ONE: Lamp
POSSIBILITY # TWO: A result of the progressive scan and 3/2 pulldown seams in the video stream.

Also found this FixYa (http://www.fixya.com/support/t454998-flickering_blue_screen_problem) article which alludes to fixing the Power Board.

Hope this helps getting you going in the right direction!

Telstar - thanks so much for the help. I had done a search but obviously you had better results than me!

Once rectified, let us know what resolved your problem so that others with the same set having similar flickering issues, and upon searching and finding this thread, will have insight based on your experience into what they can do to fix their unit.

Thought that I would give you guys an update on my TV. I came home a house without power the other day. Once the power came on I turned on the Mits and the screen was so scrambled that I couldn't even make out what was on it.

So I took the plunge and ripped it apart figuring that I had nothing to lose but a dead TV. I ripped out the electrical chassis and took a look at the power supply PCB. I found a cluster of four 1000uF 16V caps that were a little puffy on the top. These caps were for the 2.5V and 3.3V supplies so I figured that a dirty supply to the signal processing PCB could be the cause for the symptoms that I was seeing.

A trip to Radio Shack and a few minutes soldering was enough to replace the caps. After reassembly I plugged the TV in and kept getting the flashing green light. My TV seems to have problems coming out of the boot up sequence for some reason. I must have hit reset five times and I was about to give up when it finally came out of boot up.

I turned on the TV and voila - a clean picture came up! Total cost of repair - $6.36 + tax. I want to thank you guys - even though the forum didn't address my specific problem - it was certainly a great starting point and saved me a bunch of cash in the process. Keep it up!
