What's with WBAL TV in Baltimore? NBC keeps advertising HD shows like Law and Order, but the reality is that it's just a dgital signal and there's nothing HD about it.

Probably the same thing that is wrong with CBS here in Phoenix, the local is not yet broadcasting an HD signal, just digital.

Cheers, Dave

Well, to be fair, Law and Order is in HD. In the spirit of what your statement is about, shows like 'Friends' and others have the fancy digital telecast logo when they begin to make everyone think it is HD. It isn't. Looks like crap warmed over. To be true, every show on every network will eventually be able to have that digital telecast thing - FCC rules by, what, 2006? 2008?

The real thing to gripe about when it comes to WBAL-DT is their obnoxious and obtrusive logo. Either they think we early adopters are so brainless as to not know what we are watching or they are so vain that they have to remind themselves. Yeah, I'm looking in your direction, Bill Fine.

Hear, Hear! I couldn't agree with you more BigJohn!

Plus not only do they have that WBAL-DT, Digital, Baltimore logo in the upper left corner, they also plaster the 11 AND NBC peac*ck in the lower right hand corner. And yes it's true that they are light and "see through", they are still visible and it is aggravating!

Sounds like a letter-writing campaign is in order threatening to sue for damage to your TV. Mayboe these will go away once the newness wears off.

I dont know if you guys have noticed, WBAL-DT SD digital broadcast is sometimes stretched to 16:9. After I adjusted my overscan sometime ago, there are almost 1" black lines on the right and left hand side and on top of that the signal looks pathetic.
It serves only one good purpose, checking your geometry for HD until we get HD DVD and HD Avia. :D

Law and Order as far as I know is in HD and but looks a little grainy thats all, not as clear as shows like Tonight Show.
