will be getting a SAT HDTV receiver soon and wanted to know how I can get the SAT HDTV receiver to work with my surround? Right now my SAT receiver runs through my VCR for surround... can you run a SAT HDTV receiver through a VCR? how?
what about the DVI cable for HDTV?
thanks!

Well i'm not sure what your setup is, or how the VCR comes into play, but you basically have 2 options. Either connect the HDTV Sat receiver with the left and right analogue RCA plugs into your receiver/vcr?. Or, most HDTV receivers support digital sound, so if you have a compatible A/V receiver you should be able to hook it up with either a coax or optical (toslink) connection that will pass through DD5.1

P.S.: The DVI connection I belive is only for video, but I could be mistaken on this.
You can run one type of video conection - for example, composite, to your VCR and run the other video connection (S-Video) to the TV.
You can then run a digital audio connection to your receiver and run an analogue (RCA Red & White) audio connection to your VCR. You'll then have to connect your VCR to the TV and/or receiver.
Although it's not exactly the same, see the FAQ post on "how to connect a VCR & STB" (that post was designed for cable and you won't be able to record "cable" only what's on the sat video signal).
If you need to send the audio signal to two different devices, you can get "piggyback" or "Y-connector" audio cables. Just remember that you have to feed video and audio "TO" the unit and video and audio "from" the unit.
DVI is only for video and is connected directly to the TV.
