Somtimes when I am watching locals in HD I lost the picture completely and when I unplug the receiver and plug it back in the picture comes back. This happens every fice minutes on some nights and not at all on others. I have a Directv HD receiver by the way. The Hughes one. Anybody know what could be causing this?

Jose,
3 things are possible poor ventilation of the STB causing it to shutdown/freeze or blackout. The other is multiple signals causing the STB to overlaod and not lock to one signal. This is called multi-path. Too strong of signal can also overload the STB again making it lock up.
If you do not have any trees or tall structures and you are not overloading the signal then it is heat.

Thanks. It came back on again after moving it and giving it about 15 minutes. The box did seem to be extremely hot. I will know for sure tomorrow night if this was truly the problem or not.
