So I bought this TV (Panasonic TH-42PX80U) and I hooked up my stereo to it like I had it hooked up on my old tube, and the sound coming out my stereo is really bad. I connected it using regular VGA cables btw. Any suggestions? Thanks.
I assume you meant analogue audio cables (red/white) from the audio output on the TV to an audio input on the receiver. On many TVs you must go into the settings to turn off the internal speakers, activate the external audio outputs and set the volume to "fixed" and not variable, so that the best signal is sent to the receiver.
