I just got the best open box deal of my life, a CT-36HX42 for $675. I'm pretty excited about it...however, I was wondering if anyone has one and knows whether it upconverts 720p to 1080i or not?

I don't have any 720p HD channels avalible in my area to test it with or I would. The only reason I ask is that I'm a pretty big gamer and I'm hoping I'm future-proofed to some degree.

Thanks a ton!

Nope, only accepts 480i/p & 1080i. See the following link.

Lowest web price I saw in a brief search was $1300, so you got some deal, provided it works, etc.

No it does not accept 720p only 480i,480p and 1080i. Good price for an older discontinued model. It will make an ok game monitor. A little small for HD but providing it displays regular TV ok your in good shape.

Kevin, "Fast fingers" wins again. Sorry, couldn't resist.;)

Edit. PS. I can't remember, are you my clone or am I yours?

LOL, a little small for HD? I could barely find room to put this monster :). I was replacing a 25" dinosaurr. I had to chuck the tv stand to fit it in my hutch.

Everything seems to work great on this set.

My only problems are getting rid of Blooming and red push. So, I get perfect image/color with slight blooming with DVD's and no blooming but nasty red push with standard cable. Any suggestions? This is after using Avia.

Small in the sense an hd picture will be in 16:9, making it about a 28 inch widescreen? Try www.kehoi.com for possible tweak for red push.

Actually, according to http://www.cavecreations.com/tv2.cgi, viewing 16:9 on my 4:3 set will always give me a larger image than the 32" 16:9 set I was orriginally looking to buy. Most of my programming is still in 4:3 too, so I'm more than happy with the size. I guess I'm not a videophile, I'm more of an audio buff.

Yikes, found out the hard way going to Keohi that the hx41 model is much different than the hx42....the service mode settings looked horrible on the set. Oh well, if I tinker with it long enough I should get the color down. I fixed the red push...now I have green push, lol.

Thanks for the help, it's appreciated.
