View Full Version : Replacing capacitors in WD-52525

I just replaced some of the capacitors in my WD-52525 TV.
The problem I had was flickering blue and red horizontal lines
on the screen, looked especially bad on dark screens.
This appears to have solved my problem.
I have written some instructions on how I did it.
How do I post these instructions for others to see?

And, thanks to all the various posts that I used to research
this problem for my TV and develop the courage to try this
project.

My file is about 1.8mb, too large to attach. Anything else I can do?

ZIP it?
Or... place the file on a public webfile server and post the URL.

I have posted my capacitor replacement instructions on this address

http://rapidshare.com/files/178575742/Replace_caps_WD-52525.pdf.html

It is only good for 10 downloads. If more people want this, I can find another
place to post it.

Thanks again to HDTVoice for getting me started on this. This repair did fix my TV this time, though I realize that other capacitors may be failing. At least my TV works fine now!

Good luck to all who try the repair,
Josh

It is simple. If you want to be sure of a reliable fix, replace all of the polar electrolytics in the entire chassis, both SMD and radial. Seriously. After rebuilding a few of these with increasing numbers of caps, and removing literall every cap on one DM and testing, we have concluded that it impractical to attempt repairs of this chassis and send all of them back to Mitsubishi for a rebuild.

I have done over 300 repairs on this series of chassis (WDxx525/725/825) since june of 2008 with only a 4% failure rate. I charge $250.00 and pay shipping one way.

What are you doing to repair them in comparison to a Mitsubishi rebuild?
