Does anyone know if the supplied remote control for the Samsung TS160 works by Infrared or by RF? All the info I've seen claims it is IR. Indeed, I have programmed it to control my TV, DVD, VCR, and audio receiver which all use IR signals. And yet I have purchased an "All-In-One" universal learning remote, and it does not seem to program this Samsung STB. The troubleshooting guide for the remote says its possible the STB may be an RF device. Also, if that is the case, is there anyway to convert an RF signal to an IR signal? Thanks in advance.

Learning remote can learn the codes of your samsung remote. All you have to do is put your universal remote in learn mode and then point the samsung remote to the reciever of the universal remote and program each button one by one. That way you can program all the buttons.
I have a IR and RF remote for my A/V reciever, RF signals only control the reciever, I can use it anywhere in the house. One simple test to find out if your remote is RF is have a barrier between your remote and device like a wall and try to use your remote then. If it works its RF and if it doesnt its IR.
I can use my RF remote in my basement while my reciever is in the living room.
Hope this helps.
Also try www.remotecentral.com for more information on your particular make/model.

I called One For All and they gave me the Code 1276 for the samsung. They even upgraded my remote over the phone just by holding my phone up to the back of the remote, no JP-1 cables needed. I am very pleased with this remote now, it controls everything; I can change the input selection on my audio receiver, view the guide on my satellite receiver, view the menu on the TV, and play DVD'S and videos. I even programmed a Macro key to turn everything on or off with one click. I couldn't be happier with it!:)

How did you do to program one button power on/off for all devices?

As he stated, you programme a "macro". This "macro" remembers several button presses in sequence so that you tell the unit to emit "turn off the TV", followed by "turn off the VCR", followed by "Turn off the receiver", etc. (the only problem would arise if one of the components is not "on" and the same button turns it on or off. In that case it would turn that unit on, instead of off...)

Exactly right...I programmed my Macro#1 (there are 3) to turn TV on, then turn audio receiver on, then turn satellite receiver on, then tune it to channel 199 (HDNet) all with one click.

I looked in the manual and it's doesn't say how to program a macro. How do you go about doing it? Press the button you want to program and press set, then continue through the sequence and press the button again?

We are talking about the "One-For-All" Universal remote, not the included Samsung remote. It is programmed by holding the SET key, then selecting KEY MACRO, then select M1, and then (for example): TV-power-audio receiver-power-satellite receiver-power-satellite channel, then press and hold Select until it says Success, followed by Exit Setup.
