View Full Version : Samsung SIR-TS160 only detects 101

I just had a Triple LNB dish installed today but my new Samsung SIR-TS160 won't detect it. If I do the detect dish type setting it fails and when I select Oval 3 on my own it still will only show a signal on 101. I have two other receivers in the house and all show all 3 satellites and as well I even switched to one of those locations to make sure it wasn't just the cable going to the Samsung. Any idea what's causing this. Is there simply a setting I need to change or do I have a bad receiver?

I found an option in setup called Cable STD, Cable IRC, and Cable HRC. Does anyone know what these are? Either way it was for STD but trying it with both IRC and HRC works perfectly.

did you ever find out what was wrong.
Im looking to buy this reciever myself and would like to know if there are common problems and if you figured it out?

I have a 3 LNB DirecTV setup, with no problem using the Samsung receiver - great picture!
The problem you seem to be having is corectable through a menu option for the setup of the signal - see the back of the manual with your receiver - simple setting.

Go to manual setup. Do not ever use auto!
Select 3 LNB dish and be sure you press the OK button or it will not save it.
The receiver will reboot.
You will now get the option to check the other satellites in the signal menu.
If you get no signal on them make sure that the sat cable is run direct to you phase III dish. Don't use signal amps since some will not pass the 22Khz tone needed to switch the LNBs.
If you are using a multiswitch it must have 4 inputs and 4 wires going to the Phase III dish.
If it still does not work then the receiver is bad or something inline with the cable is preventing the 22Khz switching tone from getting to the dish.
