My four year old PT56TWD-63G TV came up with another stupid problem. When we use the DVD player, which is connected to the TV through the component input, and then switch back to the digital TV stations, the sound will not work. The sound will work on the analog stations until they are shut down in 17 days. The only fix is to unplug the TV from the AC, which is plugged into a power strip, and re-plug it in after a few seconds.
The other day the plug was very hot. One of the prongs was even hotter and the plug itself was deformed. I cut off the plug and replaced it with one I bought for about $2. The sound still fails, but I don't burn my hand when re-plugging the AC cord. Luckily it didn't burn my house down.
My extended warrantee runs out this month. The next time it has a problem, I am going to send the TV to the dump where it belongs.
