I am looking for a HDTV Unit that is between 55-60 inches diagonally, but is not 25 to 30 inches deep. I can't afford a 50 or 60 inch Plasma TV (and don't need it that thin). Is there anything available on the market that is say only 15 to 20 inches deep? Any new technology that is cheaper than Plasma? Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Mitsubishi was showing a model at NAB that would fit your criteria, but I can't think of any other model that would.
The Mits was in that diagonal range, but only 10" deep. However, it was only a technology display and they would not give any release date. It was a "rear" DLP that used mirrors to create a large screen display with uniform edge to edge brightness.
Have you considered front projection systems?

I'd also reccomend looking a Front Projection systems. Although I think I also heard of something this year which was supposed to be realtively inexpensive and realitvely flat as well. LCOS? (something On Silicon, if I remember correctly). I'll have to do some searching to find out who was doing it again. RCA? I'll look at it tommorrow.

I found a candidate HDTV that has a 50 inch screen with only 18 inch cabinet depth. It is the RCA L50000 model - I saw it in a Popular Science magazine "What's New" edition from last December. Has anyone heard anything on this unit? It uses an LCOS display...."liquid crystal on silicon". I'd appreciate any insights or opinions on this model and the picture quality, reliability, etc. of this type display.
