any suggestions? I have athena AS-f2's in the front, AS-f1's in the rears, AS-C1 and AS-P400(i know i said i was going with klipsch, but i didnt like them the second time i tried it) IMO, the onkyo looks the best on paper, but is there something about the other two that I should know about? I know with yamaha, the warranty is only good if you buy it at a "real" reseller, for instance if you buy it on ebay, warranty is no good, what about the other two companies? i work at best buy, so i can get the yamaha 5660 for 350, but i can get the other two for about the same price on ebay. please help me out, thanks.

I've had my Onkyo 787 for a couple years and have had no issues with it. I would have liked to have 3 component inputs but we would have to get into the more expensive Yamaha and Onkyo models to get that. My A/V store sells both Yamaha and Onkyo and the sales guys seem to like both. As you have indicated they are very similiar in specs/features.

I have no experience with Denon.

In my opinion you couldn't go wrong with either. Since you can get a Yamaha at work that might be the best choice. I wouldn't think you would have problems with returns etc.

All three are excellent recievers. i'm a Denon fan so of the 3 i'd say Denon, but partly because thats what I own. I think you'd be happy with any of the lot.

Edit. About the warranties. None of the companies will honor the warranty if not bought from an authorized reseller. A friend of a co-worker just bought a Denon 4803 (4300$ list) for like close to 3000 from an un-authorized site. He's only had the thing for 10 days and it got "touched" by lightning. Denon won't do anything for him unless he sends it back to them and pays for the repair and for them to recertify it. The place he bought it from said that they would cover the repair price, although the guy is more interested in having it replaced altogether.

thanks, so I think the yamaha would be the way to go simply because of the warranty. I really liked the onkyo cause it has 50Mhz component switching. Does anyone know where i could get the onkyo for around 370-400 shipped besides ebay? Anyone here work at circuit city? Hook a brother up :D

one more question, i bought an athena point 5 system for a smaller room, should i get a yamaha 5650 to drive them or should i look into something else. just want something "good" looking to spend less than 300(figure msrp could be about 400).
