I just bought a KV34HS510 34" FD Trinitron® WEGA™ Hi-Scan™ TV, and looking to buy a surrond sound system to go with it. Because of how my room is, I need to mount the speakers on the wall in the corners of the ceiling.

Anyone have a good quality surrond speaker/reciever for my first one. I want to buy a good one with good value, and the speakers have to look good on the walls.

It depends on how much you want to spend. I initally started out looking at relatively small speaker systems but landed on the Boston Acoustics speakers and the Onkyo 701 receiver. I eventually spent more than originally budgeted, but am happy with the outcome. Listen to a lot of speakers and receivers to determine your preference, from an audio and budget standpoint.

get an athena point 5 system and tie it up with an ASP-300 subwoofer, these things can really kick, i have this as my "small" setup in my living room, but they sound almost as great as my f2/f1 setup. For recievers, yamaha, onkyo and harman kardon are great.

Can you consider some "in-wall" or "in-ceiling" speakers?

Suggest you look into the Mirage Omnisats with the LF150 SW.
I have this set-up in a 6.1 arrangement and found them to be very flexible in their placement. Due to my room constraints, doors, windows, closet, etc., I placed the Omnisats about 7 feet from the floor and upside down. IMO with excellent results.
You will also find Mirage's CS to be very helpfull.
This package will cost approx. $1700.
My receiver is a Marantz SR7300 and TV a Toshiba 34HDX82.

If you have a lower budget (like I did) take a look at the JBL SCS 150SI surround package. This is a low cost solution at around $300, but imho it provides a great sound. The package comes with everything you need (except good screw anchors) and was very easy to set up. The design of the room dictated the speaker layout. That and the fact that I live in a townhouse influenced my purchase. I really don't want to spend a fortune on speakers until I can really turn them up. I have the fronts on stands (Specific stand designed for this exact speaker), the center on the TV, and the surrounds mounted on the side walls in the back corners at ceiling height. I like the wall mounts in this application because the naturally point the speakers slightly downward. However, if you are mounting them at ear level you can bend the mount fairly easily. This is not a high-end solution, but I felt it was far superior to the surround packages in the same price range (mostly Sony) and good enough to compete with the lower-end Bose/Velodyne systems that were much more expensive. I should warn you that the sub is VERY large. Big definitely doesn't always mean better, but at this price point it helps a whole lot. As an FYI, I combined this with the Sony STR-DE985 ($300) which provides a lot of flexibility in terms of options, settings, inputs, and outputs, but won't break the bank. For around $700, after shipping and the speaker stands, I am very pleased with the value as well as the sound in a big room.

Good luck!
