I was wondering if it was possible to take a computer video image and output it at a High Definition resolution on an HDTV. I'm mostly interested in displaying high performance 3D games on an HDTV, and was wondering if anyone else had tried.

The biggest draw for HD computing and gaming for myself is the 16:9 aspect ratio image.

If anyone has any input or any experience with this type of setup, I'm interested in what you have to say.

Best thing you could ever do, IMHO! And if you have a DVD drive in your system, you con use it as a progressive scan player (and your computer also acts as a scaler) for the kind of DVD picture quality you can only get from phenominally high-end systems!

You can find a TON of info on doing this at http://www.avsforum.com in their HTPC (Home Theater Personal Computer) section. Not all games support widescreen resolutions, but there are a few ways to kind-of get around even that limitation.

So the answer is a resounding YES! It has been done and it is very much worth it!
