I just read the Comcast/ESPNHD Press Release and they said that ABC's Monday Night Football will be in HD as well as ESPN's Sunday Night Football.
Break out the 12-Pak BABY - it's gonna be a couch potato football season this year :p

Glad to hear someone will be seeing Lisa Guerrero in HD. Unfortunately for me, the locaL ABC affiliate in the Bham, AL area(football capitol of the South my rearend) is dragging their feet until mid-November before going digital. On top of that, DISH (my satellite provider) is not offering ESPN-HD yet and I haven't heard a timetable as to when that will happen.

Tonight's ABC Monday Night Hall-of-Fame Game will NOT be in HD - what a rip!
In addition, ABC has chosen to use an HD resolution that is less than what HDNET, HDMovies, and CBS use whenever they do have HDTV broadcasts...so while its good...its still a compromise in image on larger screens.
Hopefully, when the network affiliates all must comply with cranking up to full power, and HDTV becomes more mainstream next year...all of these idosyncracies will go away...

Here is the official word from ABC for tonight's Monday Night Football (MNF) in HDTV. Let me know how you are showing this premium sports programming to your neighbors, friends, and relatives. What do your children and their friends think and say about it?

NFL SEASON PREMIERE
NEW YORK JETS VS. WASHINGTON REDSKINS: "Monday Night Football", the most successful and longest-running primetime sports series in television history, begins its 34th season with the opening NFL game of the season, as the Washington Redskins host the New York Jets on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 (9:00 p.m., ET). The Redskins, coming off an 8-8 season, addressed major
needs in the off-season by signing WR Laverneaus Coles, OG Randy Thomas, K John Hall and KR/RB Chad Morton. Since these four played for the Jets last season, this should make a very interesting game. The Jets, 9-7 last season and AFC East champions, are led by QB Chad Pennington and RB Curtis Martin.
The Jets and head coach Herman Edwards seek their third straight playoff appearance.
MNF IN HDTV: The entire schedule of "Monday Night Football," beginning with the Hall of Fame Game tonight, August 4 (8:00 p.m., ET), will be available in HDTV.
Currently 130 of ABC's owned and affiliated stations are broadcasting digital TV, covering 82% of the nation, with 102 of those stations broadcasting in HDTV. All of ABC's HDTV programs use 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format.
"MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL SEASON": The 2003 schedule continues on SEPTEMBER 8, as the Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel to Philadelphia to meet the Eagles in a rematch of last year's NFC Championship. This is the first game in Philadelphia's new Lincoln Financial Field.
The following is the 2003 ABC NFL "Monday Night Football" schedule (all games air on Mondays at 9:00 p.m., ET, except where noted):
SEPTEMBER 4, New York Jets at Washington Redskins (Thursday Night)
SEPTEMBER 8, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Philadelphia Eagles
SEPTEMBER 15, Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
SEPTEMBER 22, Oakland Raiders at Denver Broncos
SEPTEMBER 29, Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
OCTOBER 6, Indianapolis Colts at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
OCTOBER 13 , Atlanta Falcons at St. Louis Rams
OCTOBER 20, Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders
OCTOBER 27, Miami Dolphins at San Diego Chargers
NOVEMBER 3 , New England Patriots at Denver Broncos
NOVEMBER 10, Philadelphia Eagles at Green Bay Packers
NOVEMBER 17, Pittsburgh Steelers at San Francisco 49ers
NOVEMBER 24, New York Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
DECEMBER 1 , Tennessee Titans at New York Jets
DECEMBER 8, St. Louis Rams at Cleveland Browns
DECEMBER 15, Philadelphia Eagles at Miami Dolphins
DECEMBER 22, Green Bay Packers at Oakland Raiders
During last football season "Monday Night Football" finished in the Top-10 among all primetime shows on network television for the 13th consecutive season, and finished first in the key male demographics.

Was the game in HD from the start?
I gave up cause my local ABC station had one of those weather statement crawl things and they had told me before they do NOT have the crawl in HD so no HD program when bad weather.
BUT now the weather is over and game looks real GOOD.
Does MNF not announce or have a HD LOGO>
thanks

Game didn't start in HD because of technical problems. It went to HD after about 15 minutes with great quality and 5.1 sound - awsome. Only issue is the scoreboard - everyone should email ABC and tell them CBS does that part right - and lets not discuss the different formats here that is done in enough places - great pq, great sound and real nice Lisa (even though the HD shows somethings that wasn't seen before - amazing and proof how everyone will not love HD)

The game was awesome until they lost sound and then turned off HD about 15 minutes later. But until then...WOW! Hopefully it'll be back shortly.

I must say I am very happy that this year will be better than last year. Game started off w/o 16x9 but then it widened and WOW.
Gives me goose bumps.

Entire game was in HD from what I could tell, and for what little game there was. 720p. Had to adjust my antenna a bit as I wasn't spot on and the wind was shaking my antenna, but after that it was perfect.
Lots of John & Al in HD but not much game, first that lineman got hurt and then the game got cancelled due to lightning followed by a flooded field. But at least it was in HD.
Even titantv.com didn't list it yesterday as being an HD broadcast, but it was. :)

I can't stand where ABC, and ESPN HD for that matter, has decided to put the little scoreboard ticker nearly in the middle of the screen. We need to do something about this. Write your congressman, senator, whatever it takes. I know after watching FOX and CBS HD last season, that they got this figured out... so what's up with ABC/ESPN HD?? We finally get a hotty like Lisa Guerrero and they cut off half her head with that thing. I emailed ABC at ABC Sports directly in their comments section. The more people they hear from the better.

I am greatfull it's working tonight due to the problems WSB in Atlanta has had recently. By the way nothing they can do at this time with out having seperate graphics generators for the scoreboard. They only use one set of cameras with middle portion going to the SD viewers. Untill HD viewers outnumber the rest it stays otherwise the SD viewers would not have a board at all. Still better than FOX with the top of the screen taken up.

are all hdtv broadcasts in widescreen? if not, will monday night football be in w/s?
All true HD is widescreen 16:9. MNF is HD (provided there are no glitches) and if so, it'll be 16:9.
