I need some help, I have a JVC AV56WP30 TV and a Samsung SIR T165 set top box. I have the Samsung connected with the DVI cable to the TV and do not get a picture. I have connected with component cables and everything works fine. Am axious to see Digital picture. Any suggestions?

Did you flip the little switch on the back of the box to DVI/RGB?

Yes I did. I have read elsewhere that these units need a software download upgrade if the DVI is not working. I guess just contact Samsung and mention T165 and DVI not working and they will send upgrade and installer by email.

I was not aware of a software upgrade. I wonder if this applies to only the SIRT165 or if it also applies to the SIRT160 as well? Arent you going to need a special cable to perform this software upgrade or is Samsung going to provide you a cable?

You can read some issues at www.avsforum.com scroll down to HDTV and then scroll to HDTV Hardware. I have a cable becuase I had to download an upgrade to a MPEG Sat Reciever I have.

Sorry to be so slow on getting back to this. I am happy to report that all is well. I had the wrong DVI cable. I would like to tell you all that before this TV, I had a Toshiba TN61X81. I also have a C-Band Sat system and have had HD Discovery for a year or so. The Toshiba was a very good set with a very good picture, it was just a little large for our room. The Jvc delivers an excellant picture. The HD is outstanding. The over the air picture with the DVI is also very good. What a lot of people don't realize is that altho they are broadcasting in digital form they are usually in Standard definition and not HD. The picture is still better than normal. I just wanted to pass on my satisfaction with the JVC AV56WP30 and Samsung T-165 STB.
