I just started recieving ESPNHD few days ago. One problem that I notice is that when I directly go to channel #173 on my STB, I dont get any video or audio, only when I go to channel #181 which is for NBCHD, I get video and audio on all HD channels. Then I can browse back to ESPNHD and get audio video.
If go back to any SD channels and switch back directly to ESPND (#173), I dont get any audio or video.
Does anyone else have this problem, is it Comcast or my STB ?

I have the same problem with my SA in Howard county. It happens on several of the HD channels. If I go from a non HD channel to an HD channel by typing the number into the remote, sometimes I get a black screen - no audio or video. And only when i channel up or down does the HD channels come back. My neighbor had the same problem. When he got the new pace box it no longer happened, so I am assuming it was the box. I also have issues where, randomly, the picture goes out for a few seconds. Sometimes picture and audio, but mostly just the picture. And it happens on all the HD channels. The time between the "blackouts" varries from channel to channel, but it occurs as often as 3 minutes. Really annoying while watching sports.... it always seems to happen during a critical play! I think this is the SA box as well. My neighbor doesn't have those issues andymore since the pace box was installed. I am currently waiting to have a pace box installed, since I have DVI on my TV.
You woke up a pretty old thread here. The SA3100HD is a very old STB. You can also consider the SA3250HD STB, which eliminated a lot of the issues of the SA3100HD. Also, if your Cable supplier has the SA8000HD DVR available, that may be something for you to consider.
