Dumb newbie questions...

Ok so I just bought a Toshiba 43H71 from Fry's for $1199 - I couldn't pass it up!

I have DirecTV and I need to get an HD receiver.... I was going to get the Samsung SIR-T150 but then I read a review that said it was for OTA only?

Can someone tell me my least expensive options on getting the new dish and a HD receiver for DirecTV?

Try calling DirecTV and explain that you purchased an HDTV and want to upgrade your hardware. I know that they will upgrade your dish for free (except shipping). They may even cut you a break on an HD STB upgrade.

Be persistent... even lie! Threaten them with cancelling your subscription and converting to cable! I've read where others have been successful with this in the past. It may take more than one call, but eventually get a receptive Customer Service Rep.

Oh yeah... ask to talk to someone in the 'Customer Retention' department. Good Luck!
