I was set to purchase the hln617w til a salesperson told me that not only did the hln567w have slightly different looks, but it also has upgraded internal boards, ?third generation F. chip? I have tried to get information from the net, but really, there are no reviews and not much out there. Can anyone shed some light on any differences besides size and a thinner bezel?

The internals are basically the same on all hln models, even the newer "tantus" 467 and 567 models. The only difference is the 567 will generally ship with an upgraded firmware (v 214) that supports discreet input codes and may have a better OOTB picture due to different factory default picture settings. Otherwise just the size and exterior are different.

Thanks, Mr. Pink. You are dealing with a novice here. What would the upgraded firmware actually do for me? Would the dicreet input codes allow a universal remote using macros, or the one from the Denon 1804 allow me to change inputs and toss the other remotes in the drawer?
