There is nothing wrong with OTA..myself and many of my neighbors are getting it..and we are 40 miles to the south...plus which I can't get all the channels I want on Comcast...and I am forced to buy more equipment...slapped an antenna in the attic and never had to look back..have had superbowl parties w/HD last 3 years
I can switch channels and get all the banging I want as you say...from CSI to Leno...so what am I missing..ESPN HD..big deal
As far as HBO or Showtime..I'll take my tweaked DVD any day..much rather rent the movie

You make two points:
First, as long as you and your neighbors get OTA everything is fine in the world.
Second, 480i information from a DVD is OK who needs HDTV anyway for movies?
Did I miss anything?
Of course you and your neighbors and some DVD is not going to get the DTV transition done. A lot of people will have to buy into OTA HDTV to make it happen (in your case 480i DVD quality OTA would be OK I guess).
It ain't happening yet OTA and it ain't going to happen either till something gives. Few receivers are being made, fewer are being bought. Most people are going to wait for HDTV on cable or satellite or just settle like you for 480i "tweaked" DVD quality.
