$40 DTV receivers by 2007 in the UK and Berlin.

$40 (http://www.siliconstrategies.com/article/showArticle.jhtml?articleId=14100012)

Actually we have an USB receiver that cost $65 right now and an STB at $90.

This $40 will happen well before 2007.

I would think the ideal price point ought to be $20. This is what an el-cheapo loss leader B&W analog TV sells for today. At $40 a pop, I would probably buy only one for my whole house. At $20, I would buy one for each analog TV I own (at least four) and maybe a couple for my analog VCRs as well to extend their life. There's no reason the whole thing can't be solid state and cost little or nothing to make, so virtually the whole cost would be distribution, promotion, and selling. After all, DirecTV and DISH already give away SDTV satellite boxes for free (with prepaid service).
