Hi,

Living in Quebec Canada,I will have to buy a new tv very soon and being aware that there are only few channels available for the time being, should I buy a 4.3 or 1 16.9.I don't have dvd player and I don't intend to buy one for a near future and I belive that it could take several years before lots of channels will be available.

See the FAQ on 4:3 vs widescreen. If you don't watch DVDs and if you can't get much HD for a while, a 4:3 set may be a better choice.

Depends on the size of the TV though. There are very few 4:3 RPTVs any more (>40")

Good move. With HDTV growing monthly, and analog TV going bye-bye in about 24-36 months or so...makes sense to get a 16:9 TV like the Hitachi...in the mean time, if you want to see widescreen DVD's, you'll get the added value.

You are taking the prudent route - getting something that won't be obsolete (for the most part) in a couple of years.

GOOD MOVE!
