It is the Compaq MP4800 2,000 lumen XGA DLP Projector.

Here is a link with some information. The price is excellent.

Compaq Projector Link Here (http://shop.store.yahoo.com/tigerdirect-com/h24-mp4800-p.html)

I am thinking that DLP is the best choice. Is this correct?

I can't seem to find much information on this projector. The only information I can find is on the same website that is selling it. I would like to have been able to find it on the Compaq website, but I couldn't.

If you know anything about this, please offer you assistance. I am completely new to this and any information you can offer is useful.

Thanks!!!

Under $2k for an HD-quality (768P) DLP projector does seem like a good price...

Edit - as noted below, I missed the fact that this is a 4:3 projector - therefore not true HD

This projector is not a true HD projector with 16:9 aspect ratio. Its 4:3 with 768p. True HD projectors have resolution in the range 1280x720 and I think is called as WXGA.
This projector is XGA, 1024x768.
It looks like a good projector for its price.
Have you checked www.projectorcentral.com for other PJs.?

Whoops, I guess that would be the equivalent of a 580P signal when viewing 16:9. Didn't notice the 4:3 aspect....

I thought that a true HD was ~$5k.

I didn't notice the compaq I posted previously as being 4:3. I am definately wanting 16:9.

Thanks for pointing that out. I will also check those links posted and the projector suggestions posted!!

Thanks!!

I think I really like that Sharp DT200! It has all the connections I would need and in a price I like.

Would the Sharp be better than the Panasonic?

Sharp DT200 (http://ww3.onecall.com/PID_19805.htm#)

Panasonic PT-L300U (http://www.projectorpeople.com/hometheater/projspec.asp?itemid=7414&itmname=Panasonic+PT%2DL300U)

Thanks for the help, info and suggestions!

There is some serious image conversion going on in both of these units (note resolution levels)...but he Panasonic appears to be a better overall unit, in terms of base capabilities.

SO if you're looking for best bang for the buck the Panasonic is the way to go....their equipment tends to be more reasonably priced. In terms of quality, Sony tends to be slightly better (at a higher price, of course).
