this is a bitch session more than anything else but i gotta vent.
i have Directv, with (of course) the HD package. the dish could only be located (according to the original installer) on one spot of my house `cuause the house next store blocked my view of the satellites. well, the people next store just built an extension on their house, which now blocks both my B and C satellite signals. no sunday night HD football, or the HD game via my sunday ticket. i'm all dressed up to go to the HD bal, with no date.
an installer is coming out on wednesday to see if there's any way to relocate the dish, for at least $100 (which i currently don't have), and i believe it will cost more if i need a mast or something like that. only me.

You could ask politely for some compensation from your neighbours since they caused this.

keith i do feel your pain and it does suck that this has happened to you.... and 57 i would agree with you but i doubt those neighbors will care about him not getting programming if this is an addition to there home theyve been wanting... ill state this again i have nothing against small dish and in fact think its a great option to cable if your cable provider in your area sucks or doesnt offer HD... but this is an issue were you would not have this problem with cable and is something that pops up from time to time with dish.... i remember taking calls at direct sometimes and would have to tell the customer if they couldnt get signal from every which way they could mount the dish then they were outta luck......

i have a feeling i may be out of luck. i hate the cable company too. maybe i'll sell this HDTV and switch to a black and white with rabbit ears.

I'm curious as to what type of home you have, how it is located in relation to neighbors, and why the installer could find ONLY one location to place the dish? This just doesn't sound right unless there are other factors we don't know about. I've seen dishes pointing backwards from the back of the house over the roof. Of course, the highest point is usually the gable on one end or the other and it just doesn't seem plausible that there is only one place to put the thing to get a LOS.

Hopefully he was just being lazy that time, Double. the house next store is separated by only a 1 car driveway, and with the extension they built, is higher at pretty much al points.
