So I had something strange happen today. I did a search for a digital OTA signal and I found a new PBS HD channel. The weird part was when I started to watch it my box would shut off and turn itself on and do the aquiring guide data thing turn itself back on and then shut itself off and start all over again. Thinking my box had malfunctioned and needed repair I grabbed my other same model box and did the same channel search and this box also did the exact same thing with the same channel, weird. In order for it to not do this I had to change the channel to something else, problem solved. This cure also worked on my other box.
So I was wondering has anyone had this happen before? Kind of bizarre to see this on 2 boxes with the exact same problem.
Is the PBS station transmitting a signal that is telling the box to do this odd behavior? I am mystified and would like to hear from you.

No experience like that with my TS160, but I have also noticed several sub channels now showing up between my 22-2 and 22-6 PBS stations. Those stations are not showing anything right now, but they are there. I can go to them but just get a blank screen. :-P

I spoke to the engineers at the station and they are also seeing the same problem with their consumer receivers. The professional ones are not affected by the problem. Apparently there is something buried in the signal that is causing this problem and they are talking to the HD transmitter encoder manufacturer to see what it could possibly be. At least its not my equipment failing.

A similar thing is happening to T160 owners in the San Diego area with OTA reception and a particular local station. It may be a problem with the signal from the station, however, other users who use tuners other than the T160 report that their receivers are working fine. Even so, the station is looking at their equipment and signal to see what they can do.
