My 50-803 just took a dive.
Five years and dead.
I now need a new tv.
I live near Madison, WI, we get all kinds of DT broadcasts.
Madison, Milwaukee, and Rockford.
I also have Direct TV and plan to use their "generous" $399 path to a HD-STB.

My budget is $2000-$3000, what do you recommend?
55413, 55513, 65513, 48", etc. so many models.
A local sales guy said the 55413 is a great box, quad focus.

If the screen has bad color, convergence, dot crawl, I'll always see it and never enjoy the show, so my real question is, is the money going to give me even better marginal qualtiy for the buck. Someone told me that the 48" will give you a better picture than any of them. ( My seating arrangement allows for a viewing distance between 8-12 feet )

Help me, and where to purchase?

Check out the FAQ section, epecially the post "how large an HDTV to buy", along with any other FAQs of interest like "if only I'd have known", etc.

After reading the FAQ's, go to a high end A/V store armed with your newfound knowledge and look at different models.

There are many things to consider. DVI, Firewire, stretch modes, etc. While the new Mits offer both DVI & Firewire, the Hitachi stretch modes are superior.

Go play with different models, then you can make an educated decision.
