I just purchased a Hitachi 53UDX10BA Rear screen projector which is 4:3 format. My Mitsubishi 8020 DVD is producing a good quality pcture in progressive scan but I was wondering if I am able to take advantage of the anamorphic resolution, ie does the monitor squish all the lines into its 16:9 display area? If so should I be checking some setting on the DVD to be sure it is aware that the monitor can accept the signal?

Also, I just ordered a cabinet made by Schroers & Schroers sight unseen. Has anybody had any experience with this furniture? Is it as well built as it looks?

Any help appreciated.

I was wondering if I am able to take advantage of the anamorphic resolution No. The anamorphic DVD is "enhanced for Widescreen" HDTVs only. The 4:3 set does not allow you to take advantage of the anamorphic image, which can provide a 30% better resolution on Widescreen HDTVs. Search this forum, or your favourite search engine, for "anamorphic" or "Widescreen vs 4:3" and discover why... That's part of the reason why widescreen HDTVs cost more....
