I just got DVE a couple of days ago. It has a really good overscan pattern. From what I have found on this site, it looks like I'll have to do a re-convergence. I really don't trust my eyes and am not 100% with using the service menus although I have made some simple adjustments in the service menu with no problems(red push). Any thoughts?

If you're happy with the picture and with the amount of overscan, then you should be OK. Normal HDTV overscan is about 4-6%. What did you have?

Sometimes people change the overscan so that they can see the "tickers" at the bottom of screens when they are in "non-linear stretch". This should relate to about 4%.

If you do change the overscan, do not go below 3% as you'll start seeing stuff at the top of the screen (dots) that you don't want to see.

It looks like I have 5% overscan. I've been watching my Hitachi 51F500 in 16:9 standard, and like a lot of people said, I have gotten used to it. I used to watch in 4:3 expanded but no longer. From your reply, I probably won't adjust my overscan. Thanks for the info.

If you change your overscan, you will need to do a convergence in service mode as well. I recomend a mylar overlay for putting geometery into alignment and to aid in doing overscan. Look at this post
about a Toshiba and some info that may be helfull.
