o.k i finally purchased a 50" hdtv..zenith....so what now...how do i get hd channels?....also i have a large multi-directional antenna on top of the house...someone please guide me in the right directions
You can get HD via Cable, Satellite and/or OTA.
You can read the FAQs beginning with "Antennae and other OTA stuff" and work your way down, perhaps including "what you need to do to your new HDTV".

O.K....on my t.v i have regular t.v...video 1,2,3, then component 1...which is hdtv...then component 2 lights up as dvd....so the question is since i have a large mulit-directional antennea....how do i hook up to component 1 when the hook up is for a/v cable and the antannea is coax?..need some help here guys i'm a real newbie to this stuff
thanx in advance
First check www.antennaweb.org to see what DTV channels are available in your area. Your profile doen't show city or state.
If DTV (digital television) is available then you would need an ATSC (HD) tuner. You hook the coax from your antenna to the tuner and the tuner to your TV's component input and away you go.
First give me your zip code :) and we can go from there or you go to www.antennaweb.org and put in your address and get the exact direction to aim your antenna. You will also get antenna recommendations and the stations that are DTV in your area. If OTA is not available you can go cable or satellite as recommended earlier.
Do go through the FAQ's, lots of good info in there.

We should fine out the model of the TV to see if it has an integrated HD tuner or not...

All right,
Congrats on the new TV.
Does it have an internal HD tuner? My guess is not, so you will need a HD tuner for OTA(over the air) or cable.
Plug your antenna coax into the new STB you are going to buy..Check Best Buy they have recently had OTA/Direct TV tuners for about 400 dollars...
Then using component cables, or DVI if the TV and the NEW Set top box(STB) have it, plug them into your tv where it say HD input. ...Now one thing to remember is do not BUY anything marketed as HD, have the words Monster or Terk on it.. Now go read the FAQS
