Hi looking to buy a hdtv sony kp53h530 and home theater system from sony the ht 5100d

a few question

1 the tv do i need a decoder converter or the home theater system im gonna get is a converter?

and if its 16.9 compression does this mean any program i watch that is 4.3 will stay at 16.9 or will compress to 4.3?

or with the home theater system do i really need a hdtv?

and the home theater system will it be the decoder for teh tv?

really need help have no clue ?

looking to spend $3000 for both tv and home theater system

I really hate to say it, but I'm not even sure what you are asking to be able to try to answer those questions.

To start with The HT-5100 is a sound system not a TV or HD tuner.

The Kp53 is a 4:3 Hd ready television. You will need a HD tuner to display HD programs.

Ignore the compression stuff. If a show is broadcast in 4:3 it will fill the whole screen. If it is 16:9 then it will be in the middle of screen with black bars above and below. All HD and most DVD's are shown in 16:9 aspect.

You need to look at your viewing habits, size of room and what you have available for source material-cable,satelite or OTA channels. If you do not watch DVD's or CBS,NBC,ABC programming then you do not need a HD TV.
