View Full Version : Automatic upgrade?

Hey all, i recently had an upgrade from DirectTV that included installation, the 3 lnb dish and a Samsung ts160 HDTV unit.
Yesterday evening while watching it i recieved a message on the screen that stated to recieve a software upgrade for your unit press enter to get it automatically. I did so but for some reason it failed and i still have the same software revision. If anyone has seen this and has done it can you tell me how i can try to install the revision again? Or do i have to call the manufacturer.

i get the same thing also i hooked mine up saturday and every day i turn it on i see that message tried to upgrade but failed, will try later.. message

I contacted both Directv and Samsung. Neither of them seem to have a clue as to why this reciever will not upgrade automatically. It is a known issue with the TS160. Samsung told me yesterday there working on a solution to the problem and *assured* me that within the next few weeks they would be sending a different upgrade to take care of the issue.
We'll see. I've heard this before.

Updating a bit for those wanting to know, my reciever finally took the samsung update yesterday. I know read the 1.010.0 update.
I've only had the unit for 2 weeks so i didn't see any problems other than this. Hopefully it continues to be stable.

I have had my unit for about 2 months and I also have the latest code revision, but my unit occasionally locks up and will not respond. I can't even power the unit off with the button on the front of the unit. I have to unplug the receiver to regain control. I have noticed that this happens most frequently when it is raining and I begin to lose signal strength. I have e-mailed Samsung but have yet to receive a response.
