I'm new to the HDTV world. I've spoken with my cable company (COX) and they will be broadcasting HD within a couple months. I want to buy a new TV 1g-1.5g is my price range. I'm not sure if projection is the way I want to go but I want a widescreen b/t 40-50 inches. I've looked at a Toshiba 42H83 at Best buy here (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051826206886&skuId=5343158&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03005) I just don't know what brand to be looking for. I see Sony has a 51" for 200 buck more . sony 51" (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051806198465&skuId=4608696&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03005)

Can someone help me out here?

Or should I skip looking at projection TVs and look at flat-tube?

Go read the FAQ's then do a price search for TV's. It is not even going to happen that you can buy a tube hd for less tha 15 and it will only be 30 some inches. There are multiple options in WS rear projection 43-57 inch at 1500 or less. At your price range there is not clear cut leader.
Look at size, connections(DVI) and price as your guidelines.

Ok I've read everything in there. I'm stuck on the DVI the Sony I'm looking at offers it with 2 sets of HD inputs. The Toshiba also has two but doesn't say anything about DVI.

The new Toshibas have DVi but are priced about 2k or more...UEC has great deals for Hitachi
