I remember one of the gurus (Isn't Oman with the 50"???) here has the same set as me Panasonic PT43LC14 and so I'm hoping I can get a confirmation as I just got the bulb replacement message a few days ago. I went through a couple of searches on the subject and just want to make sure I've read everything right. Please confirm if you would. You guys have always been the best.
1. The correct bulb replacement is the TY-LA1000 right?
2. I will not need the housing just the bulb which can be had for around $130?
3. I found a video which shows how to do this and my assessment is correct in that it's an easy enough thing to do that I should be perfectly capable of doing this myself?
4. How do I access the housing? Isn't it accessible through the front panel?
Oh yeah I should probably mention, this set has been great. No problems and I got oh I dunno maybe 4-5 years out of my first bulb.

Doesn't the owners manual explain how to get to the bulb to change it out???

I am, if nothing else, self sufficient. That said, no Splicer it doesn't.
Ratman, okay so we've concluded which bulb I need. I think in order to change it out, I have to remove the front cover on the television and it's on the left side.
I'm still uncertain as to whether or not I'll need an air filter and a new ballast (whatever that is....) as well.
I'm also wonder if the replacement bulb is going to result in me having to go through the DVD again to tweek the color, tint, white/black levels, etc. as well.
The new bulb may be brighter than your old one - lots of people don't notice how dim the bulbs get over time. A new optimization after bulb replacement is probably in order.

To be perfectly clear, I am looking at the manual which came with this television at this very moment and page 81 of the Operating Instruction manual which came with this television does NOT represent that which has been posted previously herein about replacing the bulb.
Page 81 of my manual relates to "Remote Control Quick Reference Guide (Operating peripheral equipment)"
The page you mention is page 79 of the PDF. Are you saying that the two pages following that page in your manual do not contain the lamp info, like they do in the PDF?
Tip: Whenever I purchase a piece of equipment, I always download the operating manual from the manufacturer's website and store it on my computer in a folder called "Operating Manuals". This means I rarely have to look for a paper manual (although they are stored in a paper file folder called "operating manuals in my basement). I can also do searches of the PDF for items of interest, rather than flipping through 100+ pages.

Just look at bottom right corner of the page (to be specific). ;)
The actual process of lamp replacement begins on page 81.
80, 81, whatever it takes.
