CAll DirecTV direct to get this deal for existing customers, you get a triple LNB dish + installation + HDTV receiver for $399. Maybe more incentives as well. Word is everyone is getting the Samsung 160 stb, but some get the Hughes Receiver.. OTA + Directv HDTV for $399!

I received the Samsung receiver (comes with a DVI cable which rocked) & triple LNB dish yesterday. While I am going to let DTV mount the dish (free installation), I currently have the Samsung hooked up to my old 1LNB dish. I also have my OTA antenna mounted in my attic which is working flawlessly. I purchased the channel master 3016 and mounting it in my attic was very easy. Last night I watched my first true HD programing, CSI and Threat Matrix....both were outstanding.

I took advantage also and went back to D*TV (got tired of the analog cable channels). Hooked it up to my old Terk TV50 in the attic and am now getting all OTA channels which surprised me since the broadcast towers are 40+ mi away. Only problem is that ABC cuts out sometimes. Last weekend I hooked up a Terk TV55 (I knew my chances going in!) and got worse reception, and a ChannelMaster 3020 (Deep Fringe!), both in the attic, and the reception was worse than the TV50. So those both go back to the store and I'll stay with what I've got.

Being back to all digital is awesome!! The Sammy setup was easy and I like the way OTA channels are integrated into the D*TV.

I got the same deal from Directv for $399. Just remember by the time you pay tax and delivery it's about $450.

I am using this tuner with a new Toshiba 65H83 which looks great for HD but not so good for SD. I bought the TV about 3 weeks ago. I have a Toshiba technician coming to my house to do a tune up tomorrow morning. Hopefully all channels will look good after the tune up.

By the way, anyone has a similar TV and knows the service code for this model. I have read all the FAQs on Toshibas but couldn't find any service code for this specific model which is a 2003 model.

When you say OTA + DirecTV for $399...I'm assuming you still need an antenna for locals, or does that come with the package? I wish they would specify what receiver you get, since I pretty much need the Samsung. The Hughes doesn't appear to have a DVI out, in which case I would probably need to buy a component input switcher.

You still need the antenna. I got the Samsung, but then had problems with it. I begged and pleaded for DirecTV to send me a replacement Samsung, but they would make no guarantees. I ended up receiving the Hughes, which I refused acceptance from Fed Ex. For some reason my Samsung has now started working, so I'll take my chances there. Any more problems, and I'll go directly to Samsung.

I even pointed out to the rep at DirecTV that the Hughes receiver was $399 at Best Buy, so how can they justify sending that out for the same price AND forcing me to commit to 1 year of the HDTV package. My concern fell on deaf ears.

This was only a few weeks ago (mid November), so they are still sending out the Hughes. Take your chances that you'll get a Samsung, and just refuse acceptance if they send the Hughes.

Just an fyi... DirecTV is no longer using THAT Hughes Model. The new Hughes model they're sending w/ the $399 deal DOES have DVI output.

And do you just need that triple-lnb dish for everything? You don't need your original dish in addition, do you?

Oh and one other thing...what do they do with your original dish and receiver (assuming you don't need them anymore)? Do they technically still own the equipment, since I got it free in the package deal? I would probably prefer they take it back, since I have no use for a third receiver anyway (we've got two already, I guess the HD box would replace one of them).

You keep them. I didn't realize what had been done with my dish until I was up on my roof to put up Christmas lights. There was the dish just sitting on top of the roof.

I tried to get that deal but because I live in the sticks I have to deal with Pegasus. They havent had any HDTV receivers in stock ofr a month or so. I ended up heading to Circuit City and picked up a Samsung TS160 DTV receive.

Any more info on the $99 deal? I told my buddy about it; he called DirecTV, but had no success finding the offer.

My brother just did it. Ask them to talk to a retention rep. Supposedly they are the only ones that can give the offer. His dish and receiver are up and running. It only took a week from start to finish.

$99. Ask for retention rep and they will make the $99 to keep you as a Directv customer. YOu dont even have to give a huge major sob story. Just mention that you are looking at other services like cable, mention the offer, and sign up.

Anybody else out there get this $99 deal?

I just got the same deal, they charge you the $399 plus tax and then credit your Directv account for $300. I was thinking about doing this anyway, so this saved me a bundle. At first they didn't offer anything, but I told them I was going to switch to cable and asked for a retention rep, as noted above. As soon as I got the rep, I was done.

I recently purchased a Mitsubishi 65313. On Monday I switched from Cox Cable to DirectTV with Tivo. Installation included the Triple lnb dish and 2 rooms. Living room with the Tivo box.

This was a 99$ deal and I love the Tivo.

My question is what options do I have if I decide to try the HDTV service. Will I need an HDTV receiver w/Tivo or can I use a separate HD receiver just for the HD programming somehow?

(addendum)
I spoke with DirectTV about an upgrade and the deal is still $399 with no mention of the "rebate" later. Guess Ill start shopping for a good HDTV receiver.
