it looks good. glad no blue side bars
Yes indeed, unfortunately the main wide camera behind the pitcher looks the worst of the bunch, but hats off to Fox overall. Good looking pictures for the most part.

We currently have the seperate "FOX WIDESCREEN" channel but we know FOX shows very few shows/events in this format.
When they do go "HDTV" will they continue to use it on their "Widescreen" channel or have another seperate channel just for FOX HDTV?

Most of their Primetime dramas are in widescreen.
From what I heard it will be a 1080i HD, 480P Digital and a standard 480i will be sent from the network Op-center but your local affiliate may or may not send all 3.
Fox have stated they will go 720P late in 2004.

This was the first MLB game I've had the privledge to watch in widescreen. I have yet to see a baseball game in high definition, but I'll take enhanced definition widescreen anyday over 16:9 pillbox. It was very clean coverage for Fox. Glad to here they are raising their standards late next year though. I don't see how they can be satisfied with 480p (and perhaps they aren't) when they see an event covered by ABC or CBS in true high-definition. I was thrilled to say the least with the game being in widescreen and even more so when NY could not pull it out.

I too nearly hit the floor when I saw the game was in widescreen.
Question is... will they bother to move the cameras down south when the Yankees are playing down there....

Yes, FOX stated weeks ago that the WS would be in widescreen, no matter who was playing.

I guess you need to have a widescreen tv to see the programs Fox broadcasts in widescreen. My Phillips isn't a widescreen and even though I have it set to 1080i and 16:9, I still get bars on the sides...
Of course you see bars at the top & bottom. Widescreen is 16:9 and your TV is 4:3.

What was I smokin? Fox is going to transmit 720P HD and 480P digital. They havent sent a 480i signal in over a year. Non digital broadcast is 480P converted to 480i.
Vikings and Broncos today was on CBS HD today, sweet!!! Seeing Steve Beuerleins origami pinkie up close in HD was pretty scary though

Hmm... I know this is on Fox... But I watched world series today... It wasn't widescreen?! Is it because of my cable company?

Probably, or the local FOX affiliate isn't digital?

EDIT: I was able to watch in HD. I'm still getting use to my HDSTB. I changed the "Ratio" on the STB and I was able to select from ' Zoom, Theater, widescreen, normal' . Once I selected widescreen it looked pretty good. Though I was disapointed our local CBS did not broadcast in HD today. Just got my STB Friday and was looking forward to watching CBS football in HD. That was a bummer. Would have liked to watch the HD feed rather than the game I got...

I get the widescreen on my digital OTA and cable digital Fox feed. Close ups are good but wide views are lacking. I'm not sure why Fox has no HDTV but apparently they missed the boat on how popular it was going to be. I am disappointed at the non-HD broadcast.

Fox will start broadcasting in HD 'sometime' in 2004, but maybe not until late 3Q or early 4Q.

Supposedly you can blame Rupert Murdoch (king of media) for this one he said something like HD will not take off or something.

After watching sports on CBS HD and ESPN HD via Model 6000 HD receiver, attic antenna, and Mits HD TV, the NFL and MLB games on FOX are terrible. I'm watching those games on the local FOX affiliate provided over DISH Netowrk. This station has recently gone digital but they're broadcasting at such a low signal, my attic antenna is not strong enough lock in. If I had an external antenna (considering Channel Master 4228A) capable of pulling in their local digital signal, would the picture improve very much over what I'm getting now via DISH?
Thanks.

If you put up a external antenna It should improve assuming the dish signal is the regular analog signal. With DirecTV my area goes with the FOX feed is from the eastcoast and its SD.
