Ok.. I just did the convergence fix on my Pan 53wx42f and everything went smoothly. I bought the kit from the TVrepairkits.com. The kit also included 6 resistors that I did not install since the instructions said if the resistors looked good, leave it.
Turned the TV on, got the convergence screen all nice and lined up, and started watching cable. Done right? I sure thought so. Until I pull up the cable guide and notice it is bowed! its narrower in the middle than on the outsides... Like maybe 0.50" difference, but i can see it although its barely noticeable. Same thing on the football game I turned on. The top bar is slightly bowed. I am sure I correctly did the convergence in the menu, so what am I missing here? Do I need to change all 6 resistors just to eliminate the issue? Or is this something else?
I have been digging around here for a little over 5 months and couldnt find a thread that addressed this. Thank you very much for maintaining a great site and thanks in advance for the help.

If the colours are lined up and the picture is bowed, perhaps the convergence ICs are OK, but the convergence lines need to be straightened. This is usually done in the manual convergence using an overlay or strings taped to the TV screen at the correct points. You then line up the green CRT to the strings/overlay and then converge the blue and red to the green. This can take some time - a couple of hours.

I'm not sure how this is done in the Panasonic, but I'm assuming there is a similar manual convergence to what's done on the Hitachi. You may need the service manual:

Here's the info for Hitachi just as an FYI:

You'll notice that the IC post recommends changing the resistors and checking for cracked solder, etc. This is because most people cannot tell if the resistors are shot since they need to be cut on one side to properly test the resistance and if you're going to do that, you might as well replace.

Thanks you very much for the quick reply. I was going to change the resistors tomorrow. I DID check the solders on the board and they were great. Picture looks great except for the ever so slight bowing, so i figure the resistors could very well do the trick.
If anyone else has anything to add before I crack the TV back open, I am all ears.
Thanks again.

Well, I changed the resistors and no picture at all...Solders are good, didnt bridge anything. I am perplexed and the wife is supremely pissed off. >.< Any suggestions?
