I think I've narrowed my choice down to this model. $2400 new seems very reasonable. The exct model I would prefer doesn't exist yet, so $2500 is about the most I should spend as in 2 years I hope the ideal solution presents itself. This can be a nice bedroom set someday :)

Is there anyone out there that wants to warn me on anything?

Reasons for this choice:

1. Between this Sony, Hitachi, Samsung and others in it's class in terms of PQ to me it's a dead heat.

2. However with those two other choices in #1, this is the only with RGB Computer in and that is 60% of the viewing on it. Games/MP3 Player/TV/Movies. This and the price made it the choice.

3. DLP too much extra dollars. The only reason I see this more viable is due to No "Dead Pixel" compared to LCD. This is probably the technology to go with today overall but for $1500+ more, I cringe a bit.

4. LCos. To new, even though I wanted to tap into higher computer resolutions. Next time...

5. CRT. Good movie picture. Computer output, uggh.

6. Plasma. To much money and this will be on pc input a lot and the burn in issue just won't cut it.

The only drawback I see with this model (LCD's) is the "Dead Pixel" issue. Fingers are crossed that this will not be a problem for me. The other how does standard TV look on this?

Any thoughts?

I've seen this TV at Circuit City and yes, I think you're making a good choice by going with LCD in general as you're going to be using your PC on it a lot. You also have a memory card reader for your digital pictures I think? All in all, it seems like a very nice TV, but I would recommend the stand that goes with it, because not only does it look good but it also states that in the manual. (I read it on Panasonic.com). Also, I think you need to change the bulb on this set every couple thousand hours and I'm not sure how much that costs, but you should probably know that. The black level on this set, wasn't all that great in my opinion, but then again, most LCD's don't look too great when it comes to the black. But again, this is the set that is meeting your needs the most, so I say go for it! Let me know how you like your set once you get it!

Hello and some good and bad comments..based on my experience with
subject /title.
Bought it at Circuit CIty $ 2899 about 8 months ago. Compared very
deeply with DLP Samsung and price was a factor difference nearly
a that time $800, as well as some criteria on the adjustments of the LCD
vs DLP... I was told that the wheel in the DLP does not permit certain
color adjustments and the LCD does..( perhaps good to make it certain
and a fact if needed).
The DLP shows a slight higher brightness and somo also a tiny better
color, definition rendition, so it seems when I looked at both side by side
many times...is the price worth it..??.
Also when the programming goes darker in the DLP it had a tendency to
go to a dark green effect , very noticiable, while looking at both again
side by side (same programming) Have DLP improved this not sure..??
or is it a problem and or not ,not sure).
Panasonic at home with a Bose 700 series audio and Onkyo Amp/Rx
and alsos the S/A 800 HD DVR, performs very very well indeed.
Adjutments of video and other features are very broad and easy to
handle and alsos performance thru the DVI and or component inputs
configurations work very well, and audio and other systems which I
have on line DVD recorder e-80H and also use DIrectv system on the
small DEn-Theater .
Aboaut a month ago the TV HD will not turn on and had a diagnosis
in the front flashing every 5 seconds the BULB went out.
Time ised on this set in 8 months perhaps 3-4 hours at the most average
per day...so figure it out and then the trouble started..
Called and wrote Panasonic and they have Audio -VIdeo contractors
in this area( NOrth Carolina) and wen I explained the trouble ,diagnosis
and serial and type and model of the Bulb to be replaced... they scheduled
me for a 2 week period TO COME TO LOOK AT IT....and then in also another
2 weeks they will attempt to either take, come over and fix it.... so...
since I had paid $$$$$$$ big bucks to CIrcuit CIty for a protection Plan
I dropped the HD in their store... A technician comes ONLY every WEEL
ONE DAY and when he came he verified my diagnosis and the Set LIGHT...
telling the trouble...Mean time I tried to buy a Bulb and do it myslef, because
the store will not fix it due to lack of man power and also BULB NO AVAILA
BLE, AND A FACT IS WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR A MONTH OR MORE from
Panasonic and or any provider.( a lousy bulb..???)wwhich will take 10 minutes to replace...so a month and a half later I picked up the TV HD and
so far so good... but...??? I hope this does not happen to anyone.
Family missed a lot of programming, events and so on and on..and been on the 800 numbers talkking to so many people COLD ATTITUDE and careless
to say the least on both sides... Panasonic and CIrcuit City as well...;.
Panasonic later on will just ERASE the educated messages I kep sending
begging for HELP...till today...
We are happy the set is back and enjoying it and will see the HD Olimpics
and inthis area we have over 16 17 channels of HD on cable and others
on DIrectv. much to enjoy and look.. But a sad and long experience indeed.
Please balance out this comments and Yes teh LCD was a better choice
price( paid for the ONKYO Amp-RX) and much more and if you are not
in front of two sets LCD and DLP, you will never know the difference ireally
and the GREEN effect and others make my choice the Panasonic unit.
Fingers crossed for mine and all others..
Sorry for the long play... report.

I bought my pt-50lc13 last year October, and the bulb crapped out 2 weeks ago. The stated life of the bulb should be approx 10,000 hrs in pristine conditions. Fortunately I got the Sears extended warranty plan for 5 years and there are many Sears service centers nearby so fixing it was no problemo. We only watch the TV max 6 hrs a day-- the tech said his guess was that the humidity and heat may have shortened the life of the bulb (I live in HI). I LOVE this TV- but make sure you are prepared to have service done to it in a year or so. I bought it for $2699 at sears with a $479 5yr warranty. I noticed that Circuit City is selling it for $2399 now.
