Putting together my dream theater (finally!!), but had a basic question about the SR-HD5 HDTV sat box, that I've yet to purchase. Supposedly it brings together broadcast, DSS & Cable in one on-screen guide, right? How does one physically run the broadcast attenae? Is it mounted on the dish and sent along same DSS coax cable? Any help is mucho appreciated.

Just picked up my SR-HD500 last night for $299 thats right $299. If you live near a Tweeter call them up or get ahold of there 1-800 # because its a steal. I hooked it up with my Directv system an d the Digital channels alone look %100 better then before. I'm hooking up the Elliptical dish next week and I can't wait. As far as your other question you can do it 2 ways. the way you stated will work, but the receiver does have 2 inputs.1 for Directv and 1 for cable or Antenna. The Receiver then does a Program guide that reads both your Directv and Cable or Antenna(whichever 1 you hooked up) then you just choice from your guide (Guides just like any other Directv Guide except now you have cable channels or Antenna channels on there) Its pretty freaken sweet. I thought I would have to switch between the 2 whenever I switched between my Directv and Antenna I have hooked up.

By far the best Receiver out there right now. Get ahold of Tweeter as soon as possible!

I already have a built in HD tuner, would this be worth my money?

JIMGIBBY-

Regarding the Mits SR-HD500, not sure if you purchase it or not. However, if you have, how are you getting around the SINGLE video output cabability. I believe the reciever will output 1080i signal via componet or or or or 480i signals, but not both. Is there a easy to switch between outputs? I was told that you could not use dual video inputs into a reciever or HDTV. The reciever will not output dual signals. Have you found this to be true?

I have been looking at the SR-HD500 for sometime now.

Thanks in Advance.

It takes any signal coming in and upconverts to 1080i, and yes it can take 2 inputs. I have Directv and OTA(Antenna) going into the SR-HD5 and it combines both signals into 1 Program menu. So I don't have to manually switch between sources, I just pick the channel and it goes to it. I hope I answered some of your questions. This Receiver is the Best I have seen..

Steve.

I understand the unit will receive mulitple inputs, however, there are things I do not understand.

Based offed what I can tell the unit will only allow a single video out. Even 1080 or 480 but not both.

Does the unit upconvert to 1080 16x9 or just 4:3? If just 4:3, it is my understanding the DTV input will not allow you to control aspect ration (ie..mits term "stretch" the image to fill the screen).

So are you watching 4:3 SDTV with side black bars? If not, I am assuming based on what I stated above about aspect ratio control, then you must have dual inputs into the HDTV and you are switching between video inputs?

Or maybe there is something I am missing...

Your relpy is appreciated...thxs.
