I have a 47wx52 which up until now has functioned flawlessly. Yesterday I turned on the TV and channel 3 had no audio. All other channels were fine. I thought it was the cable company and ignored it. That evening My wife put the tv on for the local news and only the commercials had audio. This morning same thing. No audio on only channel 3. Our other set (4:3) works fine on channel 3. It is only my 47WX52.

Question: Can this be true? Is there seperat tunners for each channel? And do I need to seek service. This set is about 10 months old.

Thanks

Can you connect a VCR to Ch 3 and test it for audio ?
If TV is the problem, then I would call Panasonic for service.
Good Luck ! :)

Thanks for the help. I didn't think to try the VCR or DVD players but I will when I get home. Seems quite odd to me thats all.

Some TVs have two antenna inputs - try the other?

Remember when you connect the VCR, you have to ouput to channel 3 via RF-coax, not the composite/S-video/RCA audio connection. That's how you will test to see if channel 3 on the TV has a problem.

You could also connect the cable to the back of the VCR and see if it can properly tune in channel 3, perhaps there's a problem with the cable to this TV but not the other.

I don't think many DVD players have an RF modulator to output channel 3.

Thanks for your assistance. I'll try what you are suggesting also. If what you are saying is true wouldn't it effect all of the channels not just channel 3? The audio is all sent through my receiver. I did try channel 3 by itself with the tv speakers only and still no audio even though all the other channels were fine so I dismissed the problem as being one with the receiver or the connections. I'll be heading home soon and will post what I find if anything. Just seems very strange the way this is.

Ok here's the deal:
Came home equiped with some ideas from this forum. Tried VCR. No deal. Still no sound on channel 3.

Changed the antena input to #2. Nothing.

Disconnected cable/HDTV box and connected cable direct to the TV. Channel 3 works.

Reconnect cable box, start to check settings on TV. All seem ok:(

Grab cable box remote and start to check settings. SAP is enabled.

Disable SAP all is right with the world again.:D

Wife says grandaughter had that remote (2yrs. old) and she had taken it away but didn't think she had done anything as the station she was watching was not effected.;)

Thanks guys. I couldn't have done it without you. Might not have tried a different antena input and then antena without cable box unless I pondered it here.:p

Oh oh, grandaughter is back again., better hide the remotes.

I had completely forgotten this, I had gone through the same problem when I bought my TV. There was sound on some channels and no sound on other. Just use Stereo instead on SAP in the setup and everything should be fine.
