I am getting my Sony 51" on Tuesday, but now I have one problem...where to put my A/V components?? I dont really have room on the sides of the TV, what do you guys do? Does anybody put them above the TV?
Also I noticed that the top of the TV is not that large, do any of you have a hard time keeping the center speaker on there? I am worried mine will not stay properly!
Let me hear you guys...Thanks!
There are shelves that are pre-made that can hold stuff on the top of the TV. Search the web or HT stores. Some TVs are more solid than others, but a 3/4" thick piece of plywood should distribute the weight evenly enough. Some sample links below (for center speakers, but the idea can be "enlarged":

Another option would be to have some solid shelving attached to the wall above the TV. I've seen several setups like that, just don't overload the shelving.

For center channel, you could buy a stand that sits infront of the TV. I have one and you can see the picture of it in the gallery.

Well.. I started with everything on top of the TV... But I really hated the looks of it. SO I went out and bought a bush audio cabinet for like 100 bucks to sit next to it.. If you don't have any room on the sides, you will probably be stuck with them on top, unless you have the ability to re route all kinds of wires and put an audio cabinet on a different wall.
If you have a good A/V receiver, you can connect "everything" to it on another wall and route only video to the TV (a few less wires). Click on HT2 in my signature to see.
