I just got a DVI cable and hooked up my STB via DVI. All of my regular channels now come in 4:3 aspect and I am unable to stretch. The HD channels are not coming in at all. I am getting sound and blackness on the HD channel. Someone please help.
Please supply make/model of TV & STB.
Most TVs do not stretch a 720P or 1080i signal. I've also read that TV stretch modes are "disabled" when you use DVI since it's intended for HD signals. It's possible that your STB is not set up properly to "send" 1080i or 720P to the TV for the true HD channels. Check the setup of the STB and get back to us with the other information in sentence one..

Sony Television KP-46WT510 and a Pace STB. I can't find a setting that would allow me to make any adjustments as yo've described. There is a setting for widescreen or normal. I have it set to widescreen. Any other tips?

I reset my box and it work. Holy crap I've never seen anything so amazing in all my life. The picture completely fills the screen and it is unbelievable. Now the question is, what is the soluton to getting 4:3 aspect ratios to fit? Will the STB output component and DVI signals to different tv inputs?
The "reset" probably got the STB to "recognize" the DVI output.
Since the TV won't stretch HD inputs, you'll probably have to connect an S-video cable from the STB to another input on your TV and watch the "equivalent" SD channel to be able to stretch the signal. Most TVs can only stretch SD, not HD as I mentioned earlier.
I'm not sure if the STB will output to component and DVI simultaneously - give it a try.
See the FAQ post on "cables & connections".

One other thing to try.
Some STB have ability to stretch SD signal before it is sent over the DVI connection. Most TVs can't stretch anything over DVI. Even though the SD channel is not true HD it has been upconverted to 720p or 1080i so the TV thinks it's HD.
If you want the 4:3 SD to fill the TV check the STB manual to see if it has ability to stretch SD signal.

One last point. some STB call this ASPECT. My Samsung SIRT165 has button on remote labeled ASPECT to change the stretch of SD and HD signals.
