I just bought my new SONY 51" KDP-51WS550 High Definition Projection Television featuring a Built-in ATSC Tuner. And the picture looks fuzzy when I play a DVD and when I watch my Direct TV. I do not have the HDTV dish or External HD tuner. I figured the picture would be better than it is now considering the TV's in the store were flawless especially for DVD play back. I have my DVD player hooked up through the Y, PB, PR jacks and the picture is still disappointing. Any suggestions? I'm going out today to purchase an S-video cable for my Direct TV instead of the co axle one I'm currently using. Maybe that will help with the Direct TV problem. The DVD picture has me stumped though. I know this is a top of the line TV so the clarity should be almost perfect. :(

When TVs are brand new, they don't look quite as good as when they've operated for about a month.

If you haven't done so, check out the FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". Things like turning off SVM, turning down sharpness, brightness, contrast, etc.

You've probably increased the size of your TV some from your previous model, so it's a bit like putting a magnifying glass to a newspaper, but DVDs should look really good from a viewing distance of about 9'+. Which DVD player do you have?
