i am in a small apt. and i a have a 36 inch magnovox tv that has an awesome picture. i am in the market for a hdtv widescreen. i want to go a little bigger but not sure how big to go.my couch is approximatly 8 feet away from the screen. is a 50 inch tv too big? i wont be in this apt. more than a year so should i go that big temporarily? i am scared of the clarity of a hdtv. 2 of my friends have hdtv's and 1 of them is on cable and 1 is on dish and the picture is terribly blurry. the regular tv i have now is very clear and i dont want to pay out over $2000 for a blurry picture. what would be the best size tv for me and any suggestions on if i should bother even bother looking for a new tv ?am i stuck because of my cable company does not offer hd broadcasts? i watch alot of tv at night and i dont want to get stuck watching blurry pictures.. please help me decide.thank you

If you're not going to be in the apt. too much longer, why the rush to get a set now? I really couldn't imagine buying a set that ends up being too small simply because you sized it for a place that you were in for a short period of time.
As far as the "blurry" picture, the larger the screen, the larger the imperfections of the source image. Garbage In = Garbage Out, as they say. Of course, this mainly a concern for the older non-HD image. So, if that's what you plan on watching, either via cable or sat., then I'm not sure you want to move to a larger screen.
HD signals, on the other hand, certainly don't suffer from that effect. Considering the HD source is made with specifically with a large, high-resolution screen in mind, then it's not suprising that it has a stunning picture. DVDs, in a good progressive player on a properly calibrated set, also look very good on such a screen.
So, the questions really go back to what do you plan on watching? If you aren't going to be able to get HDTV in your area, I'd doubt I'd spend the money on such an expensive set. If you're a big DVD watcher, maybe it's worthwhile. But, if you're only going to watch analog programming, I'm not sure why you'd spend the money. That type of viewing really isn't what the set is designed for.
Personally, I think you'd be much better off moving to your new place before purchasing a set. Moving the things isn't a trival task and the possible risk of damage would warrant that you move the set as little as possible.
