Hi All,
My new project is to run my component HD to a 2 TV's. Now I tried spliters and that does not work. So I picked up a VGA distribution Amp (250Mhz) . It was much cheeper than a Component Distribution Amp. I need to make my own cables so does anyone know the pinout for the Component to VGA?
Thanks

I'm not sure that's possible. Don't you need a transcoder?

You might be right ( must likely you are right ).

But my thought is the it should work just like a Component Dist Amp.
What I thinking is, the VGA has R G B lines in, if I use just those it would output those lines just like a HD Distribution Amp.

Pretty sure you need to convert. KeyDigitalSystems makes a VGA to Component converter KD-VTCA3. My only limitor was it only does 640 x 480 unless you do modification on the PC using video powerstrip software.

I found the best bet is use S-Video when displaying computer on TV. If you dont have S-Video out, there are tons of cheap converters that convert VGA to S-Video. check out TigerDirect for a list of them.

Thanks Everyone.
I not convinced I will need to do any conversion as I only want to replicate the sigals not change them in any way. It would be 720p to 720p.
The cable at "bluejeans" is what I'm looking to make. But because I have vary short runs, 1 foot. I want to make my own. Also the input is female and the 2 outputs are male ( I think I got those right ). So I will need a genderchanger it I use "stock cables".

Make sure you are in right format.

Problem is component can be either Y/Pb/Pr or RGBHD format. The two formats are NOT compatible. Connecting incompatible formats CAN CAUSE SYSTEM DAMAGE.

If you projector/TV DB-15 connector is for RGBHV and the STB component out is Y/Pb/Pr then it will not work. See chart below

component signal DB-15 signal.
Y/Pb/Pr Y/Pb/Pr - works fine (uncommon)
RGBHV RGBHV - works fine (uncommon)
Y/Pb/Pr RGBHV - WONT WORK.***

Read the manuals for your video equipment. On connector listings it should video format used.

***for this connection you MUST use a transcoder. A transcoder takes the Y/Pb/Pr signal and converts it to RGBHV (also know as VGA) signal.

Y/Cb/Cr or Y/Pb/Pr can be selected on my projector menu so both signals are good.

OK thanks for the help EVERYONE!

I used a $29.00 "VGA Dist Amp" to take a 480i ,480p or 1080i signal and sent it to two places. Using cables like the one's in the previous posts. This really helped my set up.

Thanks.
