Hello! I came a across this site a few days ago, alought of great information. I have a problem, I need to pick between to tv's and I havent been able to find much info about them here or the rest of the web. They are the:

Sony KP-51WS510 (http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/eCS/Store/en/-/USD/SY_DisplayProductInformation-Start;sid=Enz64grnC4f64jVKBs_w6UXql3nieyIOY8w=?CategoryName=tv_ProjectionTVs_RearProjection_43to53TVs&ProductSKU=KP51WS510&Dept=tv)

and

Panasonic PT-53WXD63 (http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?storeId=11251&catalogId=11005&itemId=64557&catGroupId=11253&modelNo=PT-53WXD63&surfModel=PT-53WXD63&surfCategory=CRT-Based%20Projection%20TVs)

I would really apreciate some input on these TV's. I will be using them mostly for DVD and Xbox, if that matters.

Thanks!

Gary

Take a look at the FAQs. Especially the posts.

"If only I'd have known"
What you need to do to your new HDTV,
Etc.

The first one may help you decide based on features.

You may wish to look into Toshiba and Hitachi if you're not "hooked" on the two in your post.

The panasonic you listed has built in tuner, that might help you get OTA broadcasts only. If you wish to use cable or satellite, its not compatible with their broadcast.
The panasonic also has HDMI and not DVI connection. Also since you mentioned X-Box, this TV is doesnt accept 720p while the Sony does.
The sony doesnt have ATSC tuner in-built, is that a concern for you ? Sony has not had very reputable history in RPTV area. So you might want to re-consider.

Is there any advantage to having a HDMI over DVI connection? I wish these werent my only options, but they are, so I will be picking one or the other.

Thanks!

DVI (Digital Visual Interface) is a digital video connection only.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) can carry uncompressed digital video, audio, and control data. It is backwards compatible with DVI in conjunction with a passive adapter and for HDMI to DVI, or DVI to HDMI connections (compatible both ways) you will still retain the video functionality, but lose the audio and control data features.

With HDMI on your set you'll have more options open to you down the road if you ever integrate new devices with HDMI. The distinctions speak for themselves. Listen very quietly and you can hear them. :-P

I am biased towards Panny because I own one. Seems like you are getting more when you buy Panny.
Pros
1. ATSC Tuner
2. HDMI Connection
3. 53" Vs 51"
4. Reputation/History

Cons
1. No 720p support.
