Hi all,

Couple of questions about Plasma TV's. Are all plasma tv's HD ready where you still need the receiver to get HD channels? What is the main difference between plasma and projection other than cost and space. Why do some plasma wall mounted tv's cost 8,000 and others wall mounted cost 4,000. Is there a real 4,000 quality difference. What is the best brand for plasma?

Thanks

1. Many plasma sets are "monitors" no tuners at all, you need a STB.

2. Plasmas are brighter than projection. They are also typically much smaller for the same amount of money. You cannot buy 100" plasmas.

3. Some Plasmas are EDTV (480P only). They are the cheaper ones. If a 768P plasma is $4k cheaper than most other plasmas that are also 768P, you gotta wonder about that unit.

4. Plasmas can be finicky for inputs - some only accept the "highest" input "ignoring" the others. This can pose problems. Many people with the money for plasmas get their HTs set up by professionals.
