I have verified that at least in the San Francisco area that the broadcast suffered from extreme pixelization (dropped pixels). The game was almost unwatchable in HD, both OTA and Comcast, however, the commercials looked for the most part fine (4:3 with black bars, in 720p).
Was this a nationwide problem?

Same here in Hartford Connecticut. It was watchable but I also noticed the pixelization during the game and NOT the commercials.

My signal in Van Nuys, CA was also more pixelized than normal. Solar Flares?

Wouldn't you know it--I just got my HDTV receiver set-up last night and it was the first show I was viewing in HDTV. I'm glad that wasn't normal.

No problem in New York. Other than the damn Eagles winning :)

Hehehehe..... Gotta love the Eagles! We also love watching New York teams lose. Go Fumbalina Barber. Go Yankees..... No thanks.

MNF problems have been documented to be a national problem and not a local. It was with the HD feed as no one reported problems during commercial breaks.

I hope someone at ABC/MNF reads this thread. I have an open invitation to a group of guys, all interested in HD, who come over on Mondays to watch the game. This was the first time it truly sucked. Normally it is a very enjoyable broadcast. Let's hope next week is better. Go NINERS!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the post. Got my new HDTV finally set up last tuesday and looked forward to monday night for 6 days! And then the pixelingticked me off! It was the only show to do that all week. Except the PBS feed that seems to do it sometimes. Thank goodness its not my new TV!!

I should ammend my previous post. As with every HD program that Time Warner NYC provides my video flickers off and immediately back on about every 10 minutes.
By the way Brewer, being from NY I'v gotton to see the Yanks win it all 4 times (plus numerous playoff/world series wins), Rangers won the cup in 1994, and the Giants super bowls in 1986 and 1990.
Being from Philly you haven't seen any CHAMPIONS in over 20 years. Plus the Eagles have never even made a super bowl.
YOU REALLY MUST LIKE WATCHING PHILLY TEAMS LOSE.

Its a good thing I am from New England. Connecticut and Patriots fan first. Hmmm... Patriots Super Bowl winners. UCONN women and men basketball winners. Eagles have been to the Super Bowl in the early 80's but did not win. I will tell you this. Its harder to be a fan of a team that does not win than one that is expected to always win. Your city affords you the opportunity to buy championships. And I enjoy every minute when it doesnt work. Go Mariners, Go Angels, Go Diamondbacks. Heck go anyone in MLB for that fact. I just think its great when small market teams win like Green Bay.
I think we might be off the point on this thread. Sorry about that.

It is amazing how much better ABC's MNF picture is comapred to "edtv" football on fox.
How bout those Red Sox, Brew man. KA---BOOONE! hahahahaahah..that was awesome. 1918 lives!!!

Go ahead and keep it going JDerect. How bout those Marlins and Diamondbacks. Curses have to start somewhere too. 2000 baby. You are right. That was awesome. I just love the Yankee quotes on how they wanted to just throw up after being schooled by a payroll 1/3 theirs. Hehehe....
Anyways I do feel bad for Cubs and Red Sox fans. Though not one myself, they are the true fans. You just proved my point why New York fans especially bandwagon Yankee fans are not liked. Lets see how dedicated you are in 10 years when the curse of 2000 holds up. Kaaaathunk!!! Thats the sound of fans falling off the wagon.

What's ever more amazing is how much better CBS' 1080i football broadcasts are than anyone else. CBS rocks in HD.

I agree. CBS 1080i looks great. No matter what though, 720p or 1080i, it is all a major improvement. I love football and certain teams but the quality makes me watch any team thats playing.

CBS HD looks great when theres not to many motion artifacts... they are the only HD channel in 1080i that ive noticed do this... discovery, nbc, hbo, showtime dont do this.... hopefully this is just an issue locally because they just launched it here in Tulsa.. anybody else noticed that about CBS....

I have actually not noticed that about CBS. I think you mean that when things move, they get blurry, like a ball or a wide receiver. I can read the "Wilson" on the ball in midair. ;)

Almost a week behind things here, but it's nice to hear I was not going crazy on Monday night as I tried to adjust my antenna like that was going to help. Doh! I get nearly zero breakup OTA with my choice of two major markets and both ABC stations I pull in were hosed with pixel drops. Was rather annoying for a while. I tried adjusting my antenna to the stronger of the two ABC channels thinking that was the problem. I should have concluded it was the nationwide problem with the game broadcast only since the commercials were fine, but was so tired from work that day I could not put two and two together. I did notice it was much better into the later parts of the game. I'll let ABC slide on this one. I can't remember the last time ABC let me down for a big event in HD. I still enjoyed the game and when the pixels were not dropping the game looked great. :-)

I'm not surprised that a New Yorker got it wrong again. The Eagles played Oakland in the 1981 Super Bowl.
