How to improve image???

Now that I have a functioning Panasonic unit again, I went and bought a Home Theater DVD that shows how to set up the audio and video of the system. My audio now sounds even better than before, but my image quality is still lacking. I've used the AVIA home theater DVD and adjusted sharpness (set almost to 0), contrast, brightness, color and tint. I backed off on the red push as the last tweak.

My DVD image is ~OK, but not as nice as in the store. I'm using the three HDTV outputs directly from the DVD player to the set. (Not coax or S-Video, but the other type) I'm using monster cables.

As far as cable, I have a digital cable image from Cox, and I am using the S Video input for this. TV images really are grainy.

Any suggestions to improve the image?

Those "other" connections you refer to are called component input/output.

Just curious, what was your picture setting when you got the "burn in"?

Make sure that you have all of your automatic settings turned off. These will interfere with the setup and sometimes even negate setting changes. (SVM, Black Level, Auto Colour, etc).

You may also wish to try an S-Video connection instead of the component video connection. This sounds counter intuitive, but we've heard from lots of people where this has improved rather than worsened the signal from a DVD player. It's just how some DVD players and some HDTVs interact.
