I bought the C27V36 unit and quickly found the manual has absolute no info on programming the control. I have contacted the "tech support" who were no help in rectafying the matter.

Can anyone help with this remote???

Thank you,

There is usually a section in the operating manual somewhere indicating the remote codes to be used for other equipment, how to enter them into the remote, etc. If there is no such section perhaps it doesn't have any control over other equipment? Try checking the manual again, or perhaps a document that may have come with the remote?

The specs say its an illuminated 'universal' remote. If the 'how to' for the remote isn't in the main TV manual perhaps in a separate booklet or something.

Tried to find a manual on Google and Yahoo but came up empty.

There are two loose pieces of paper included that refer to quck set-up of TV set and HDTV...the manual says it is an "Universal" remote.

On the remote you have Mode: TV, VCR, CABLE, DVD, SAT and Controls for VCR/DVD. Except there is NO "program" button or visable way to put codes for other remotes into this.

This remote looks impressive! Exept for the fact that it SUCKS!!!!

There's got to be a way. Maybe someone can come up with directions for you.

The Dish Network remotes don't have a program button either. Its a series of keystrokes but without the list of codes you are still dead in the water.

Don't give up :)

There is a difference between a programmable (universal) remote and a "learning" remote. The programmable ones simply have codes that you enter for the various pieces of equipment - for example a JVC VCR might use code "127", etc.

You do this for "learning" remotes too, so that you don't have to teach it all the various codes, since most of them are already in memory. You then simply "teach" the few codes you need to, if any, if you have a learning remote.

Do you understand the difference? Now that you do, perhaps you can find the "codes" for the various pieces of equipment in the TV operating manual and enter the correct "code" for that piece of equipment.....

There may not be a programme button. Once you find the directions, you may have to enter a certain key sequence, or hold down a button for an extended period of time, etc.

57U...

You must not be readin what is written. I am fully aware of learning and programmable remote, except Zenith doesn't seem to be. They are only aware of "universal" remote in the writting.

As I original said, there is NO information in the manual or loose leaf.

I have codes from another Zenith control that tech support gave me. The key strokes they suggested did not work. I have also tried other keystroke combinations from other Zenith controls, too no avail.

I believe that it is best to find another remote and dispose of this one. Funny, that the second most expensive remote from Zenith is junk and not fully functionalbe!

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you weren't aware of these issues, it's just that some people on this forum do overlook some simple things sometimes.

I have a 7-year old 27" Zenith myself that has a programmable remote - VCR, Cable, Aux. (it has a prg button)

You stated earlier that it has "buttons" for various components, so the remote must be "programmable". Perhaps they left a piece of paper out of your package? Perhaps you could go to the store and see if they know anything, or give Tech support another try - perhaps by e-mail?

If you go to http://www.zenithservice.com/gcsc/b2c/hpi/main?tc=owm.command.OwmCmd&COPY_RIGHT=Copyright+2000+by+Zenith+Electronics+Inc.+All+rights+reserved.&OWM_FIRST_FLAG=NO&CHAR_SET=&LANG_CODE=en&COUNTRY_CODE=ZEC&SERVICE_KIND=1&SERVER_DOMAIN=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zenithservice.com&COUNTRY_KIND=ZEC&BUYER_CODE=US007515&selCountry=ZEC%7Chttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.zenithservice.com%7C1&salesCountry=LGE+Global+Sites&LANGCODE_CHARSET=en%2CISO-8859-1&PRODUCT_CODE=ZHD&S_LANG_CODE=en&BUYER_MODEL=C27V36
You can find the manual and it has information on how to program the remote, with all codes.
OR:
1. Turn on your component.
2. Press the "Mode" button on the remote until that component lights
3. Press the "Power" and "Mute" buttons simultaneously
4. Either punch in the code on the number pad, or press the CH +/- buttons to change the code
5. Press the "Power" button to test the code
6. Repeat 4-5 until your component turns off.
7. Press "Exit"
